Two Toronto firefighters suffered minor injuries Wednesday as crews battled a fire in the city's west end.

Officials say the fire began around 8 a.m. at a townhouse near Dupont Street and Lansdowne Avenue and then spread to a neighbouring house.

One firefighter was taken to hospital with minor injuries to her leg and the second was treated at the scene.

A mayday call was sent out during the fire, but the alert ended once the firefighters were out of the home.

Early reports indicate that part of the floor had collapsed and the firefighters fell through it.

A third firefighter, the captain, also fell, but he was able to hold on to a remaining portion of the floor and then helped the other two climb back up.

Officials say at least 13 trucks and 50 firefighters were involved in fighting the blaze.
