Rogers Communications Inc. has started trials of a cellphone service that could technically reach data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 megabits (Mbps) per second. The company is testing faster speeds because it believes there is customer demand for high-bandwidth applications such as video on demand on cellphones. It currently offers maximum cellphone speeds of about half that amount, although a Rogers executive wouldn't disclose the average speed. RCI.B (TSX) rose 94 cents to $48.
