The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed veteran receiver Terrence Edwards to a contract extension Friday.

The six-foot-one, 179-pound Edwards enters his ninth CFL season and seventh with Winnipeg.

"Terrence is a valuable piece of our offence and has shown no signs of slowing down over the past few seasons," Bombers GM and vice-president Joe Mack said in a statement. "Not only is he still able to produce big numbers on the field but his leadership in the locker-room is immeasurable and he has been a great tutor for our young receivers."

Edwards had 70 catches for 1,049 yards and four touchdowns last season. It marked the third straight year Edward had surpassed the 1,000-yard plateau and fifth time in his career.

The two-time CFL all-star enters the season in fourth place on Winnipeg's all-time receiving yards list with 6,651.

"This organization has always been good to me and my family and I want nothing more than to be able to help this team win a championship," said Edwards. "I fully believe in the direction this team is going in and I look forward to returning to the locker-room and playing in front of our fans at Investors Group Field this upcoming season."
