The Florida Panthers will be without starting goaltender Roberto Luongo for the next two games while backup Al Montoya will miss the next two to four weeks with injuries.

The Panthers say Luongo sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. He is expected to return in time for Florida's game against the Winnipeg Jets on March 12.

Montoya sustained a lower-body injury in the the third period of the same game after replacing Luongo. He has been placed on injured reserce.

The Panthers have recalled veteran Dan Ellis from their AHL affiliate in San Antonio while Sam Brittain has been called up from the ECHL to back him up.

The Panthers are just two points behind the Boston Bruins for a wild-card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
