An interesting candidate has surfaced as part of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers search for a new vice-president of football operations.

Joe Mack is a former Bombers player personnel director (1984-87) who has an impressive resume of experience from the National Football League. He was the Cleveland Browns director of football operations (1998-2000), assistant general manager of the Carolina Panthers (1994-97), and director of pro personnel for the Washington Redskins from 1989-1994.

Mack, who resides in North Carolina, has spent most of the past few years as a consultant on various football-related matters. Despite not having worked in the CFL in more than 20 years, he is well-known in CFL circles and is a friend of Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman.
