Canada’s Rachel Homan launches into World Curling playoffs with win over Sweden

Canada's Rachel Homan finishes first in the preliminary round at the Ford Women's World Curling Championship with a 9-6 win over Sweden.

The Ottawa Curling Club team caps the round robin with a 10-1 record followed by Switzerland's Binia Feltscher at 9-2.

The two countries meet Friday evening in a playoff game between the top two seeds.

The winner books a ticket to Sunday's gold-medal game. The loser drops to Saturday's semifinal.

Russia's Anna Sidorova, Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson and South Korea's Ji-sun Kim all finished 8-3.

The top four teams advance to playoffs, so Russia will face the winner of a tiebreaker between Sweden and South Korea in the other playoff game.

Homan's team won the bronze medal at last year's world championship in Riga, Latvia.
