When Canadian marathoner Dylan Wykes and javelin thrower Curtin Moss were told on Saturday to show up for lunch at a certain time in the athletes village, they weren't sure what was up. When they arrived they ran into the Queen.

"It was definitely a fun experience," Wykes said in an email. "Curtis and [I] had no idea what we were going for just told to show up at X time for a luncheon!"

The athletes didn't actually eat lunch with Her Majesty, but she greeted several athletes who had been gathered from different countries. When the Queen asked Wykes what event he was competing in, he told her the marathon which will wind its way around Buckingham Palace. "I told her the course goes right by her house and she could watch out the window. She said she would prefer to just watch on the tv! Ha," said Wykes.
