Timeline of the 2010/11 Premier League season after Manchester United won the title on Saturday:

Aug. 14: Chelsea start their title defence with a 6-0 win over West Bromwich Albion and then thrash Wigan Athletic by the same scoreline away. They win their first five games, scoring 21 goals, to throw down the gauntlet to their challengers.

Sept 19: Dimitar Berbatov's hat-trick, highlighted by a superb overhead kick, secures United a 3-2 win over Liverpool and goes a little way towards convincing Old Trafford that the Bulgarian striker is the real deal.

Oct. 16: United, having drawn at Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland, blow a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford. Few people could have imagined it would be the only home points they would drop all season.

Oct. 24: A sixth successive away draw is beckoning for United until Javier Hernandez grabs his second of the game late on to snatch a 2-1 win over Stoke City and starts to build his reputation as a scorer of important goals.

Nov. 14: Chelsea are stunned by a 3-0 loss to Sunderland, their worst home defeat in almost nine years, starting a run of nine games that produce just seven points.

Nov. 27: Berbatov scores five goals in a 7-1 thrashing of Blackburn which sweeps United to the top of the league for the first time.

Dec. 13: A 1-0 home win over Arsenal helps ensure United top the table at Christmas.

Jan 25: Another late winner, this time from Berbatov, as United fight back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Blackpool.

Jan 31: Chelsea sign striker Fernando Torres for 50 million pounds ($81.85 million) from Liverpool but instead of reigniting their title defence his weary-looking displays merely cause friction in the squad and selection problems for the manager.

Carlo Ancelotti leaves out Didier Drogba and free-scoring Nicolas Anelka in turn to accommodate the Spaniard. With every game Torres plays, United look more like winning the league.

Feb. 23: Arsenal beat Stoke 1-0 to close to within a point of United as manager Arsene Wenger talks up his side's chances of winning four trophies.

Feb. 26: United hammer Wigan 4-0 away and are 15 points ahead of Chelsea, who are wallowing in fifth.

Feb. 27: Arsenal are surprisingly beaten by Birmingham City in the League Cup final, a result that sparks a spectacular implosion. They draw five and lose one of their next seven league games to drop nine points behind United, as well as going out of the Champions League and FA Cup.

March 1: Chelsea come from behind to beat United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and begin the unlikely fightback that will take them within three points with three games to go.

April 23: Another late Hernandez goal earns United a vital 1-0 home win over Everton.

May 1: Arsenal beat United 1-0 at the Emirates to open the door for Chelsea.

May 8: United slam it shut as Hernandez scores inside the first minute of their showdown with the champions at Old Trafford. United are terrific and look a class above their biggest rivals as their 2-1 victory puts them six points clear with two games to go.

May 14: A point is all they need away to Blackburn and a second-half Wayne Rooney penalty secures a 1-1 draw and a 19th league title.
