ATI powers 3D game phone

LG Electronics Co. Ltd. says its new SV360 3D video game phone will be powered by a ATI Technologies Inc.'s Imageon 2300 media processor.

The phone, slated to ship later this year, will be the most powerful and most advanced 3D gaming phone, LG claims, offering a "console-like gaming experience and ergonomics."

The SV360 has a 320-by-240 landscape LCD display and renders images at more than 10,000 triangles per frame. It supports the OpenGL ES 1.0 mobile gaming application programming interface (API).

The phone will have a 3D user interface, gyroscopic controller and stereo speakers.

The price and a list of developers supporting the SV360 have not yet been announced.
