For everyone who lives on (let's face it) the wrong side of the velvet rope, here are a few social-media accounts that will help you experience the film fest vicariously. Or: How to enjoy TIFF from the comfort of your own couch.

The ridiculously chic daughter-of-David takes amazing snaps – a good thing since that’s her gig. She is the official photographer of the NKPR TIFF Portrait Studio, so expect outtakes from that plus personal candids. (She’s got celebrity buds like Sarah Gadon and Robert Pattinson, so you never know who will pop up in her pics).

One of the sassiest social-media celebrities out there is also appearing in three movies at TIFF. The gossip blogger Perez Hilton recently wrote a post called “25 reasons why Anna Kendrick is the only person you need to follow on Twitter.” It’s an exaggeration, but only a slight one. Sample tweet: “You know you’re hung over when you brush your teeth with sunglasses on.”

The strict no-cameras policy means what happens in Soho House stays in Soho House … unless you follow Grey Goose on Instagram. The premium vodka brand has been partnering with Soho for years now and will post exclusive pics of their star-drenched events, including the after party for Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nightcrawler.

Less than a day in Toronto and the always-observant New York-based Vanity Fair columnist has already weighed in on our city’s lack of Space Needles and wealth of Rollerbladers. His Instagram includes a pic of Wednesday night’s opening bash festivities (caption: “Degrassi Senior Prom”). Safe to say the guy who recently offered up scoop on Brangelina’s wedding will be able to do equal work in Toronto.

Toronto’s recently installed film czar (better known as Toronto’s Film Commissioner and Director of Entertainment Industries to the bureaucrats) likely has something to prove at his first-ever film fest. The new gig means he will spend most of TIFF glad-handing with filmmakers. Hopefully he keeps at least a couple of fingers free for social-media purposes.

The power producer behind Zero Dark Thirty and American Hustle will be in Toronto to support what is arguably the festival’s buzziest film, Foxcatcher (with Steve Carell and Channing Tatum). Her Twitter feed is a mix of industry speak and random musings. You might as well start following now, since 28-year-old Ellison will almost certainly be one of the It-kids for awards season 2015.
