James Reid, Executive VP, Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary, Fortis Inc.

Mr. Barry Perry, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of James R. Reid as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of the Corporation, effective March 5, 2018.

Mr. Reid was previously a partner with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP in Toronto where he practiced for 20 years. Prior to joining Fortis, Mr. Reid had a 15-year relationship with the Corporation, having advised on corporate governance matters, large capital market transactions, regulatory applications and mergers and acquisitions in both Canada and the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Laws from the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, and Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) from McGill University in Montreal. Mr. Reid has been an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto for the past 10 years, teaching the Advanced Business Law Workshop in corporate finance. He also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Committee for the Centre for Business Law at the University of British Columbia.
