Liane Kelly, to the Board of Directors, B2Gold Corp.SUPPLIED
B2Gold’s President & CEO, Mr. Clive Johnson, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Liane Kelly to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Ms. Kelly is a registered professional engineer (Ontario) and international development specialist with over 25 years’ experience in the mining sector. Initially working in mineral exploration, Ms. Kelly acted as a consultant to various global mining companies in Africa, North America and South America. She currently advises mining companies on business risks and strategies related to sustainability and corporate responsibility issues. Ms. Kelly also has experience at executive and director level for both private and not-for-profit organizations.
Ms. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics degree from Queen’s University (Ontario, Canada), a postgraduate Certificate in International Development with a focus on sustainability in mining from the University of British Columbia (Canada) and a Company Directors Diploma through the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (Canada) and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
Ms. Kelly has been a corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) consultant for B2Gold since 2011 and is currently the Company’s CSR Advisor. She officially assumed her role as Director on January 1, 2020 and attended her first Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Ms. Kelly’s extensive background and experience in the mining industry combined with her expertise in social risk management and CSR strategies means that she will be a significant addition to B2Gold’s Board of Directors and contributor to the Company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of responsible mining.
