Eric Muir is a Senior Portfolio Manager with Raymond James. He leads the 10-person Muir Investment Team, which manages over $475 million for 550 households.

Eric has been a financial advisor for more than 25 years. He has an in-depth knowledge of the issues that professionals and pre-retired and retired couples need to contend with as they move through each phase of their life. He also has expertise in working with incorporated professionals, and with family and other trust structures. Eric has a strong focus on tax, retirement and estate planning.

At age 13, Eric lost his father and grandfather. That left his mother, a North Vancouver homemaker, with no choice but to go to work to support Eric and his four siblings. From this experience, Eric learned how to work, save for his university education and be smart about his money.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours Finance) from Carleton University, as well as the designations of Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute (FSCI) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM). He has consistently been a member of Raymond James’ Chairman’s Council through the years. Eric was a runner-up for Business Person of the Year with the Burnaby Chamber of Commerce. He has written a book called Retirement: Stop Worrying & Start Planning.

Eric resides in Burnaby, B.C. with his wife, Carol. They have two children, Laura and Cyrus, a son-in-law, Brandon, and three wonderful grandchildren, Fiona, Jane and Jeffrey.

His main personal interests are family, community involvement, hiking, motorcycling and travelling. Recent accomplishments include hiking for four days in Iceland as a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Society this past July, and climbing Mount Baker and Mount Whitney. He is an avid philanthropist for those who live in poverty in Cambodia, India, Ethiopia and Latin America. Eric also supports Burnaby Hospital, and volunteers for various local charities.
