Ryan Gerstel is a Senior Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager at Gerstel Wealth Management. With over 20 years of experience in wealth management, he specializes in servicing the unique needs of affluent clients, building personalized investment and estate planning strategies for individuals, families, charities, foundations, and corporations.

Ryan’s investment philosophy was built on understanding that no two clients are the same. He spends considerable time with each client to gain insight into their values and lifestyle. Ryan strives to develop long-term, tailored strategies to preserve and protect the wealth that his clients have spent a lifetime building.

He believes that informed clients make better decisions, and places the utmost value on providing ongoing communication and education through various channels. In turn, his clients gain an understanding, and with it comfort around recommended strategies and why they are suitable.

Ryan’s interest in finance developed from a young age. He quickly learned that his fascination with the industry went beyond market analysis and investment opportunity, to a personalized dimension of financial advice.

Once he began working in the industry, Ryan recognized the importance of understanding the behavioural aspect of investing. By emphasizing each client’s tolerance and financial capacity for risk, he was able to implement distinct strategies to match investments with the psychology of each individual. Ryan bridges the gap between the academic approach and its practical application to the everyday lives of his clients. In doing so, he constructs highly personalized portfolios that help ensure peace of mind over the long term horizon, while continuously improving his clients’ understanding of the wealth management process.

Ryan graduated from McGill University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance. Subsequently, he completed several securities, derivatives, and financial planning courses at the Canadian Securities Institute, and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2006.

Ryan is active in several charitable organizations, including promoting financial education for Canadian youth. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, reading, searching for unique collectibles, and crafting creative art projects.
