The Mercosur trade bloc is in talks with other countries including Canada and South Korea regarding new trade agreements, following the successful completion of negotiations with the European Union last week, a Brazil trade official said on Monday.

Marcos Troyjo, Brazil’s special secretary for trade and international relations, said the deal between Mercosur – which includes Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay – and the EU means a model change for the bloc, which is seeking a greater footprint in global trade.
