Belkin Car Cup Mount

There are dozens of cellphone mounts on the market to stick to the windshield or mount on the dash. Either way, they have the propensity to clutter your view or fall off. Belkin has a simple solution: the Car Cup Mount.

What looks like a deformed bowling pin wearing an upturned sombrero is a bottom-heavy phone holder that fits snugly in any cup holder. Place it in the holder and twist the collar to expand the three grippy chocks to secure the holder. The phone cradle rides on a stiff ball joint, allowing the phone to swivel from portrait to landscape with confidence. Cables can weave through the post. The grips for the phone are spring-loaded to expand with a small amount of pressure then grip the phone firmly. We tried to dislodge an iPhone 5 and 6, and a wide Samsung Galaxy Note 4, all without success. The phones stayed tight in the rubbery claw.

There are two problems with the holder. First, the cup holder may be located too far back in the console to see maps on the phone. And, what if you both get into the car with a coffee? Obviously, your passenger will have to sit in the back.
