Aecon Group Inc. has acquired an asphalt, paving and construction company in central Ontario for $4.4-million.

Toronto-based Aecon says GCCL Contracting Ltd. of Orangeville, Ont., has had annual revenue of about $10-million in recent years.

Aecon says there are opportunities to expand GCLL's focus beyond paving and into other areas of road building, such as sewer installations and water-main work

GCCL has been a subsidiary of the Greenwood group of companies and will become part of Aecon's infrastructure group.

Aecon is one of Canada's largest construction companies.
