This month, Globe Investor highlights some of the best features of our website with Globe Investor Tips. Look for a new tip every weekday at tgam.ca/globeinvestor-tips.

Meet Astrid and Peter Tobin. This Ontario couple crunched the math and decided to retire last July. They sold their Toronto house and bought a retirement home in a smaller, sunnier town. (Want to know where they live now? You'll have to read their next few blog posts.)

The Tobins, who are both in their early 60s, have agreed to share their post-working-life adventures with our readers in a new bi-weekly Living in Retirement blog. They are writing about the pluses, pitfalls and unexpected surprises of their retirement.

Story continues below advertisement

In their first blog post, they share how their journey began and the numbers they crunched to see whether they could afford to retire in three years. In the second, they shared their search for a post-retirement home. Next, they reveal where they finally bought their new house and how they sold their Toronto home. To follow along, visit the Globe's personal finance site every second Wednesday at tgam.ca/personal-finance.

Hopefully you'll find something interesting and informative in their story.
