Reitmans (Canada) Limited , which closed down 3.5 per cent yesterday, reported sales in December for the five weeks ended Dec. 31, 2011 decreased 0.1 per cent while same store sales decreased 0.4 per cent. Sales for the fourth quarter to date, being the nine weeks ended Dec. 31, 2011, decreased 0.9 per cent while same store sales decreased 1.1 per cent. The number of stores remained unchanged from Oct. 29, 2011.



Glentel , which jumped 3.5 per cent yesterday, announced the declaration of an eligible quarterly dividend of $0.10/share, for shareholders of record as of Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, payable Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. "We are pleased with the continued growth in sales of smartphones and the profitability of our operations in Canada and the United States," said Tom Skidmore, Glentel's president and CEO. "Our board of directors is pleased to increase GLENTEL's quarterly dividend, reflecting the sustained earnings strength of the company."



Belo Sun Mining Corp. announced assay results from 67 additional drill holes from the diamond drilling program at its Volta Grande Gold Project located in Para State, Brazil. It said these results include assays from 19 drill holes from the Ouro Verde deposit, 42 drill holes from the Grota Seca deposit and six from the South Block target.



Vantex Resources Ltd. , which rose 1.5 cents or 13 per cent on Wednesday, announced that it had to cancel its deal with Animiki Resources Inc. It said Animiki was unable to raise the funds necessary to list their company on the TSX Venture Exchange. Therefore, Vantex will not be able to proceed with the Animiki share distribution to Vantex shareholders.



Patagonia Gold Plc , which last traded at a year high 90 cents, announced the acquisition of the Estancia 'El Tranquilo' in Santa Cruz province, Argentina. The acquisition, made through Patagonia Gold's 100 per cent owned subsidiary Minera Minamalu S.A., includes 20,000 hectares, covering the remaining land surface rights over the company's flagship Cap-Oeste gold and silver project together with other highly prospective gold areas.



Aeterna Zentaris Inc. announced that it entered into a collaboration agreement with Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., a member of the Roche Group, to develop a companion diagnostic for the immunohistochemical determination of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) receptor expression, for the Company's doxorubicin LHRH targeted conjugate compound, AEZS-108.



Sonoro Energy Ltd. , which is trading close to year lows, has entered into a Farmout Agreement with Geopetrol International Holding Inc. The Agreement provides for the assignment by Sonoro to Geopetrol of a 30 per cent participating interest in the Asphalt License Agreement among Sonoro Iraq, the Al-Salah ad Din Provincial Government and Berkeley Petroleum Mesopotamia Asphalts Limited, with Sonoro retaining a 40 per cent participating interest in the License and operatorship. Geopetrol will pay the first $9-million (U.S.) of the costs to be incurred in respect of the License. Geopetrol will also participate in a private placement for 46 million common shares in the capital of Sonoro at a price of $0.09 (CAN) per share for aggregate gross proceeds of $4,140,000.



Scorpio Gold Corporation announced today initial drill results from the Mary Zone, located southwest of the current mining in the Drinkwater pit at the 70 per cent owned Mineral Ridge project, Nevada. Peter J. Hawley, President and CEO, said: "Results to date have increased the width of the Mary Zone and also confirm that gold mineralization extends southwest from the Mary Zone to the adjacent Mary LC Zone, encompassing a strike length of 780 meters."



Firesteel Resources Inc. announced today the appointment of Mr. Michael Hepworth as interim President and CEO of Firesteel. The company also reports the resignation of Mr. Walter Wakula as Chairman and Interim CEO. Mr. Wakula will continue as a Director on the Firesteel Board.



Rio Alto Mining Limited today announced that both oxide and sulphide mineral resource estimates significantly increase the gold and copper resources in the company's La Arena Project Technical Report. The company said it intends to further explore the oxide mineralization with an RC drill program during 2012.
