‘Dinner and dancing’ took on new meaning at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London last week as Karen Kain, artistic director of the National Ballet of Canada, joined members of the 203-year-old Canada Club to celebrate the ballet company’s return to the city after 26 years. Following a dinner of smoked salmon, prime fillet of beef and fine Canadian wines, the 130 club members and guests were treated to a performance of the British premiere of the National Ballet’s celebrated new production of the classic Romeo and Juliet. The Canada Club, founded in 1810 by Canadian fur traders, is one of the oldest dining clubs in London.
