As a proud Canadian designer, Anneke van Bommel often incorporates national iconography in her work: brooches shaped like beavers and rings topped with mini-moose antlers.

Although Anneke van Bommel's Silhouette cutlery set might not, at first glance, look patriotic, it was inspired by something as vital to our collective identity as loons and maple leaves: the wooden fry fork that typically comes with a takeout order of poutine. She handcrafted the prong in stainless steel and paired it with other essential fast-food implements – an ice cream paddle and a really little knife – as a way of highlighting the inherent value in otherwise disposable utensils. To make toting the set between chip trucks easier, van Bommel’s partner, Cameron Maclean, has made friction-fit carrying cases out of cherry, walnut or white oak.

$374.57.
