Listing agent Shelley Williams, Team 3000 Realty

The Action: Listing agent Shelley Williams says interest in the house was immediate. "We had massive numbers of agents at the agents' open," she says. "It's a very unusual property, and extremely beautiful. It has a panoramic view, which was absolutely gorgeous from the kitchen, the family room, the dining room and the living room." Although renovations had been done in 1995, they didn't feel dated, she says. The sellers, in their 60s, downsized to a townhouse closer to shops. A family purchased the house with the intention to live in it, she says.

What They Got: The 3,527-square-foot house was built in 1975 but underwent a major renovation in the 1990s. It's located on a quiet offshoot of Lonsdale, and is not visible from the street. The three-bedroom house has views of the ocean and Lions Gate Bridge from most rooms. There's a two-bedroom suite in the lower level, a double garage and gated entrance.

The Agent's Take: "It's very crazy for detached," Ms. Williams says of the North Vancouver market.

"There's really high demand, and you get a whole mix, such as young families who've owned a townhouse for several years and they are ready to get into a house with a suite. Even houses on busy streets are commanding good money."

The market is so hot that she's been getting calls about a 1958 bungalow she just listed at $1.019-million. Buyers are offering to purchase it sight unseen.
