The Action: For one weekend, the public was welcome to tour this 2½-storey residence on a 23-by-160-foot corner lot in North Riverdale. The large turnout brought out two buyers who put in rival offers.

What They Got: Different areas of this detached, brick structure were updated and expanded to create a larger, more stylish home with indoor and outdoor entertaining areas – both formal and casual – on nearly all levels.

Several of the four bathrooms were remodeled, the eat-in kitchen was outfitted with Sub-Zero, Miele and Wolf appliances among other things, and a 22-by-19-foot family room was newly constructed with a gas fireplace, 11-foot ceilings, walls of windows overlooking the south-facing backyard and a door to a gated side deck.

Hardwood floors appear in the fireside living room and an open dining area in the original section of the house, as well as three bedrooms on the second floor.

Broadloom cushions the master bedroom and office on the third floor, which has a walkout to a rooftop deck.

In the basement, there is a six-piece bathroom and a recreation room with a walkout to a sunken patio area.

The Agent's Take: "[The sellers]took this plain-Jane house and added an amazing addition to the back," agent Sandra Pate said. "It's hard to find big spaces like that downtown."

The same can also be said of the dimensions of the property. "The average depth is 110 feet and on Fairview they're 83," Ms. Pate said. "[So this]was a huge lot for Riverdale with a private drive and three-car parking."
