Photographer Sergey Ponomarev captured haunting scenes of war at the Donetsk airport February 10. The airport which is now controlled by pro-Russian rebel forces was the Ukrainian government’s last toehold in Donetsk until an intense, bloody battle in late January forced their troops to retreat. The pro-Russian separatist fighters have taken up positions in the shells of some of the remaining buildings.
