It's always nice to have friends in high places, especially when one of them is among the funniest women on television.

Two decades ago, Craig Holzschuh and Samantha Bee were classmates at the University of Ottawa. Now he's the artistic director of Théâtre la Seizième, Vancouver's only professional French-language theatre company, and she is loved around the globe for her hilarious reports on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

And you can catch Bee at a special Théâtre la Seizième fundraiser this weekend, where she's taking a comedic look at her rebellious teen years in Toronto, her life as a New York working mom with three kids, and of course, her coverage of some of the most (and some of the least) decisive stories of our time.

The money raised will help make up for the $23,000 lost to recent funding cuts, which were earmarked for producing French-language theatre for young audiences.

Samantha Bee is at the Vancouver Playhouse Saturday at 8 p.m. (ticketmaster.ca)
