ART: Towards a Fictional History of Colour opens at the Burrard Arts Foundation on Thursday. Head into the Broadway gallery to see the work of six Vancouver-based artists who "address or innovate with colour by pouring, soaking, covering, washing, staining, inflating and negating." The exhibition includes everything from monochrome and ceramic painting to a large-scale balloon "painting." Thursday, June 25, 7 p.m., 108 East Broadway, burrardarts.org

BASEBALL: The Vancouver Canadians kick off their 2015 season at Nat Bailey Stadium this weekend. Nothing says summer like a bag of peanuts, a cold beer and a baseball game on home field. The Canadians play the Hillsboro Hops Friday through Tuesday and the Spokane Indians Wednesday through Friday. LAUGH: Get yourself to the Biltmore Cabaret this Friday night to catch American standup comedian Jen Kirkman. A regular on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Ms. Kirkman is in Vancouver to perform her I'm Gonna Die Alone (And I Feel Fine) set. Grab a Pabst Blue Ribbon, find a seat and laugh. LAUGH SOME MORE: Everyone adjusts to a new city in different ways. Once you get a handle on traffic patterns, directions, customs and local slang, it's easier to look back and laugh. It's those growing pains that Vancouverite: A Comedy Show has a giggle at. Make your way to Main Street Friday night, where organizers Amber Harper-Young and Brent Constantine have wrangled a roster of local comedians (Harris Anderson, Amar Singh, Kwasi Thomas, James Kennedy, Fatima Dhowre) to tell their Vancouver stories – perfect for those new to this city and for those who have always lived here. GO GREEK: Walk, take the bus or ride a bike to Greek Day this weekend. (With about 100,000 people expected, you'll want to focus on having fun, not parking.) A day of roaming entertainers, Greek goddesses, warriors and heroes! There'll be a talent show, cooking demonstrations, activities for kids and something called a Hellenic Experience Tent. DINE: Main Street's Acorn restaurant joins forces with Okanagan wine maker Richard Kanazawa for a five-course dinner Sunday night. Grab a seat and enjoy the one-night-only menu designed by chefs Robert Clarke and Brian Luptak to pair with Kanazawa's wine. Tickets can be purchased at the restaurant or by phone (604-566-9001). BRUNCH: There's a new brunch player on the scene. La Mezcaleria, Commercial Drive's much-loved Mexican restaurant, has finally given in to pressure from fans and will now serve brunch. Service runs Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Invite some friends and try the salsa cascabel-topped chilaquiles and the tequila/citrus cured salmon eggs Benedict with chimichurri hashbrowns. OPERA: The UBC Opera Ensemble is throwing down with a few performances of Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata this week. NATURE: Hit Stanley Park this Sunday for Birds of a Feather, a special look at the bird population of Beaver Lake. As the Ecology Centre explains: "On a sunny morning, Beaver Lake is the place to be in late June. This lily-choked lake provides homes for marsh wren, chestnut-backed chickadees, willow flycatchers and many others that may have already raised two or more broods of offspring."
