The man accused of killing a Prince Edward County mother and daughter and wounding another daughter appeared in court in Picton, Ont., Wednesday.

Dean Brown, 18, of Belleville, was remanded in custody until his next court appearance, May 12.

Mr. Brown is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Tracey Hannah, 46, and her daughter Whitney, 14, who were found dead inside their home on March 12.

He also faces one charge of attempted murder in the shooting of Shannon Hannah, 18, who friends say is his former girlfriend.

Mr. Brown was escorted back to the Quinte Detention Centre, in Napanee, where he reportedly has a cell beside Col. Russell Williams, who faces two first-degree murder counts in the deaths of Jessica Lloyd of Belleville and Cpl. Marie-France Comeau of Brighton.
