An Air Canada Boeing 777 jetliner lands at Pearson International Airport in 2007.

An Air Canada flight from Toronto to Hong Kong had to turn around and return to Pearson International Airport on Monday after a cargo door indicator light came on.

Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick says 349 passengers were on board Flight AC015 to Hong Kong when the pilot received the indicator light and decided to return.

He says the Boeing 777 landed normally and taxied under its own power to the gate.

Since the aircraft was fuelled to go to Hong Kong, it was considered an overweight landing and emergency vehicles were on the scene when the plane returned.

Fitzpatrick says the passengers would be resuming their trip on a different aircraft in the afternoon.

He says maintenance crews would be looking at the aircraft to determine what the issue was.
