Sex-related charges against a former Nova Scotia boy scout leader have been withdrawn because the man has died.
Donald George Schweyer, 57, of Halifax was released from custody on Sept. 4 pending an appearance in Bridgewater provincial court Tuesday.
Four counts of sexual assault and four counts of indecent assault were listed on the court docket.
Mr. Schweyer was a boy scout leader in the Mill Cove area and the offences were alleged to have occurred at Canadian Forces Station Mill Cove.
The investigation began after Chester RCMP received a complaint from a man who claimed he was sexually assaulted when he was 12.
Mr. Schweyer was a member of the Canadian Forces from 1970 to 2005 and retired at the rank of master warrant officer.
