RCMP in Nova Scotia say a man is facing charges after a seizure of 910,000 contraband cigarettes in Cape Breton.

Officers seized a truck and camper trailer from a property on Margaret Street in North Sydney on Sunday and found 550,000 smokes in the trailer.

Police say those cigarettes were packaged in cartons and had the U.S. surgeon general's warning on the packaging.

The Mounties say it's rare that they see contraband with such sophisticated packaging.

The other 360,000 cigarettes were found in a shed — some packaged as cartons and others in the more typical clear plastic bags.

A 52-year-old North Sydney man, who was not named by police, is facing charges of unlawful possession of unstamped tobacco and possession of tobacco without taxes paid.
