Ottawa teen killed after lightning strike

An 18-year-old man who was struck by lightning in Ottawa has died.

Joel Gauthier was out riding his bike with a friend on Friday when a storm swept through the city.

The pair had stopped under a tree to put on some rain gear when lightning struck.

Mr. Gauthier went into cardiac arrest and was knocked unconscious.

He later died in hospital.

The storm also downed wires, knocked over trees and blew a large section of roof off a four-storey apartment building.
