The family of Susan Klassen is angry that her husband, who strangled her to death in 1995, was granted release after serving two-thirds of his five-year sentence at a B.C. prison yesterday.

Ralph Klassen, 48, spent three years and four months in prison for manslaughter after he strangled his 36-year-old wife in the bedroom of their Lake Laberge, Yukon, home in 1995. The former Baptist minister said he had been driven to blind rage when his wife made a remark about his infertility and mentioned another man.

"It's hard for us to believe he gets to start a new life and we will never get over this," Susan's sister Brenda McDonald said Wednesday. "It's not fair." CP
