A charge of second-degree murder has been laid after the death of a man on a northern Saskatchewan First Nation.

Frederick Thomas McKenzie was found on a street on the Stanley Mission First Nation Wednesday morning.

RCMP say the 26-year-old resident of the reserve was allegedly stabbed during a fight with another man.

Emergency personnel tried to revive Mr. McKenzie, but he was pronounced dead at the local health centre about two hours later.

A 30-year-old suspect was arrested a short time later.

Michael Cook, who is also from Stanley Mission, appeared on the charge in La Ronge Thursday.
