The Globe and Mail has won two EPPY awards.

The Globe and Mail has won two prestigious EPPY Awards: one for Best News Website and another for Best Home Page.

The EPPY Awards, presented by the U.S.-based journal Editor and Publisher, recognize the best media-affiliated websites across 31 diverse categories.

The Globe and Mail received a total of six nominations for the awards, which are selected in two categories: those with fewer than one million unique monthly visitors and those with more than one million, the category The Globe falls in.

The award for Best News Website, which was shared with The New Yorker, marks the first time The Globe has won that ultimate recognition from the EPPY Awards. The other nominees in this category were TIME.com and Salon.com.

The Globe's win for Best Home Page was a repeat from last year. The other nominee in this category was NBCNews.com

The Globe and its journalists were nominated for four other awards:

  • Best News/Event Feature (for a special package on the North);
  • Best Investigative/Enterprise Feature (for coverage of the Lac-Mégantic, Que., disaster);
  • Best Business Blog (for Michael Babad’s Business Briefing);
  • Best Daily Newspaper Website.

The full list of winners can be found here.

The nominees and awards, now in their 19th year, were selected by a panel of 78 judges joined by a team from Editor & Publisher.
