A woman has been charged with the attempted murder of a newborn baby found in a Calgary dumpster last fall.
The baby's father was on his way home in October 2010 when he heard crying and found the infant in a garbage bag.
Police and EMS workers were called and the baby was taken to hospital.
The father and his girlfriend told police at the time they didn't know she was pregnant.
Meredith Katharine Borowiec, who is 30, is also charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and child abandonment.
She is also accused of failing to provide the necessities of life for a child under 16.
