Jane Taber has a piece up today quoting an unidentified - but please believe her, thoughtful Conservative MP that the only reason the Conservative caucus went along with the Maclean's resolution - which, according to Norman Spector, was drafted by the Bloc and the NDP - is because "It was a separatist trap that would feed their narrative."
Sure, whatever. Brave soul you are providing inspirational leadership for our nation, um, sorry, country (Quebec now being tacitly recognized as a nation by the House makes these things so darn confusing).
But alas, there is one Conservative MP who has shown himself to have his own mind and voice when it comes to issues that may feed into separatist traps ranging from equalization to federal funding for the Quebec hockey arena. I also happen to know that Maxime Bernier is a regular Silver-Powers reader (OK, I made that up. He isn't related to either Tim or I so there are no guarantees).
My question for Mr. Bernier is were you in the House when the motion was presented (it wasn't a recorded vote so we have no way of knowing) and if you weren't, do you agree with the motion as presented?
Update I guess Bernier has made his views clear. Not surprisingly, he has something interesting to say on the subject.
