The body of a middle-aged man was recovered from a north Toronto reservoir early Friday evening.

A man walking in G. Ross Lord Park, a sprawling green space at Finch Ave. W. and Dufferin St., spotted the corpse floating in the water and called 911 shortly before 5 p.m., said Connie Christie, a duty officer with Toronto EMS.

Crews had trouble getting into the site, but a team of police divers eventually found the body and pulled it out.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it didn't appear the man was murdered.

"There were no signs of trauma, no signs of foul play," said Staff Sergeant Scott Kingdon.

An empty alcohol bottle was found near the scene and police said the man's death appears to be alcohol-related, but officers can't be certain about the cause of death -- whether drowning or otherwise -- until an autopsy is performed Saturday.

Police have identified the man, who was most likely alone at the time of death, but won't release his name until they have notified his family.

He is approximately 40-years-old.
