The Toronto Zoo says that Ngozi, a female Western lowland gorilla, has given birth to a baby.

The zoo says mother and baby — whose sex hasn't been determined — are both healthy and are doing well.

Charles, the Zoo's silverback male, is the newborn's father.

It's Ngozi's second birth — her son Nassir was born at the Toronto Zoo on Sept. 2, 2009.

Ngozi, came to the Toronto Zoo from the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle on March 4, 2008, to breed with Charles.

The Toronto Zoo has seven gorillas — three adults and four youngsters.
