Police rope off a crime scene.JOHN LEHMANN

Two suspects are being sought after a violent home invasion in Mississauga overnight left one man dead.

Police in the Toronto suburb said they got a call at about 12:30 am Friday. At least three other people – a woman and two young children – were in the house at the time. They were not injured but were shaken by the experience.

"When we responded we found a male deceased within the residence," said Constable George Tudos, spokesman for Peel Regional Police. "We flooded the area, trying to find these two suspects.

Constable Tudos could not say whether the victim was a resident of the home, saying it was too early in the investigation to release that information.

The shooting sparked a heavy police presence early Friday around residential Corkstone Glade, near the intersection of Dixie and Rathburn roads, with tactical and canine units joining the response. The investigation has now been turned over to the homicide squad.

Police are seeking two people whom witnesses described leaving the scene on foot. There was no description beyond that they were black men wearing dark clothing.
