Filmmaker Jennifer Baichwal and photographer Edward Burtynsky took home the gold on Tuesday night at the 17th annual Toronto Film Critics Association award show and gala dinner. The pair picked up the Rogers Best Canadian Film award for Watermark, a documentary about the manipulation and depletion of water. Despite it being the coldest night of the year, the Canadian film industry bundled up – mostly in black and white – to attend the first big event of the year, which was hosted by the Toronto International Film Festival’s Cameron Bailey at the Carlu in Toronto. Vying for a close second for power duo of the night was you’ll-always-be-Samantha-Jones-to-me Kim Cattrall and director Don McKellar. The twosome are working on a new miniseries together, Sensitive Skin, set to air on HBO Canada this summer.
