Police in Burlington, Ont., have been cracking down on marijuana grow-ops, dismantling two operations and seizing thousands of dollars worth of drugs this week.

Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Halton police entered a home on Faversham Avenue to find a marijuana grow operation in an indoor pool in the basement. The crop appeared to have been recently harvested, police said, with only four plants left behind. The crop has an estimated value of $2,400.

Christopher Church, 31, of Burlington faces drug production and possession charges.

Just after 6:30 p.m. the same day, police swept into an address on Ghent Avenue and found a much larger grow-op in the basement. They seized about $64,000 worth of drugs, including 106 marijuana plants and half a pound of dried cannabis.

Ronald Lapierre, 54, of Burlington faces drug production charges and possession with the intent of trafficking.

There's no word on whether the busts were connected.
