Police search for woman after child sprayed with unknown burning substance

Toronto police are looking for a middle-aged woman after a three-year-old boy was sprayed with a liquid that burned his skin.

Police say the incident took place on Saturday afternoon, when the boy and his father were in line to buy tickets at the Humber Cinemas Theatre in the city's west end.

They say an unknown woman allegedly approached the boy, sprayed an "unknown burning substance" on his neck and ears and immediately left the theatre.

Police say the boy was taken to hospital with minor burns.

No arrests have been made but police said Wednesday afternoon that they are looking for 53-year-old Alverna Maria Lawrence as a "person of interest" in the case.
