At a glitzy Hollywood party in 2005 hosted by Rick Salomon - the man made famous for starring in a sex tape with then-girlfriend Paris Hilton - the expensive liquor flowed well into the morning and guests included celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, but the most pursued person ended up being a crasher from Toronto.

The four-year search ended this week. Aretha Wilson, 39, was arrested on Monday evening in Toronto, four years after she allegedly slashed Mr. DiCaprio with a jagged piece of glass while he was leaving the party in the Hollywood Hills.

She faces extradition to California, where she will be tried for the alleged attack that left the star of Titanic dripping with blood.

On June 17, 2005, Ms. Wilson and Mr. DiCaprio were both at a lavish party at Mr. Salomon's home. Moments after Mr. DiCaprio decided to head home at 4 a.m., he had a large laceration on his neck. He told police Ms. Wilson had struck him with a piece of broken glass.

A month later, the Los Angeles Police Department issued a warrant for Ms. Wilson's arrest, but Ms. Wilson was already gone.

In February, 2006, while at a party in Toronto, Ms. Wilson smashed a beer glass over the head of her ex-boyfriend, Wyatt Cote. Minutes after the assault, Mr. Cote killed himself by jumping from his eighth-floor apartment balcony.

In 2007, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office got wind of Ms. Wilson's arrest and contacted Toronto police. It took almost two years for the file to reach the fugitive squad.

"It evidently isn't a high-priority case," said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.

Ms. Wilson was taken to the Vanier Centre for Women in Milton after her arrest on Monday but it could be years before she is extradited.
