How newspapers covered the Egyptian crackdown depended largely on where they were published – in Egypt or the rest of the world. Egyptian newspapers were unanimous in holding the Muslim Brotherhood responsible for the bloodshed on Wednesday, according to the BBC. Some sample front-page headlines: “The sit-in dispersed, the Brotherhood ignited the situation” (Al-Ahram); “Purge” (Rose al-Yusuf); and “The nightmare of the Brotherhood is gone” (Al-Akhbar). Here are some front pages from around the world. The headlines of the two Arabic papers – Saudi Arabia’s Al Watan and Qatar’s Al Sharq - translate to “Bloodbath in Egypt shakes the world” and “The dismantling of the encampment of the Brothers.”
