Retired hockey hall-of-famer Darryl Sittler has first-hand knowledge of the pain of type 2 diabetes. He has lost family members to the disease and has made lifestyle changes to control his own prediabetes. Canadian actor and songwriter Alan Thicke also knows the challenges of living with diabetes - his son, Brennan, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a child.
