LISTING AGENT Richard Morrison, Re/Max City Realty
THE ACTION: Ten parties took advantage of an open house at this two-storey residence in a quiet neighbourhood in Killarney, while four to six dozen shoppers opted for private showings to investigate it at their convenience.
WHAT THEY GOT: In 1977, this Vancouver Special was built on a 32 by 135-foot corner lot with 1,300 and 1,100 square foot apartments on the main and lower levels respectively, plus two-car parking off a laneway.
The house was well maintained with two bedrooms, a full bathroom, a recreation room and kitchen on the ground floor.
The level above offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an eat-in kitchen, as well a dining room and a wide living room with vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace and a walkout to a balcony.
THE AGENT'S TAKE: "Many affluent Chinese buyers love the area," says agent Richard Morrison, who has heard of a small Chinatown developing in the area. "The main reason I think they like Killarney is because there is a strong sense of community there, and also because they have nice, big lots."
The home's architectural style is also a common one that many locals preferred. "Chinese [buyers]like this type of layout, especially on larger lots like this one, [which has]standard frontage but a deeper lot," Mr. Morrison adds.
