The action: Interest in the property was high, which meant it sold with only one open house, says agent Jason Dryburgh. There is more new construction under way in the area, but a lot of the properties are selling as presales. A move-in ready house had an advantage, he says. The house was also featured in the TV series Love it or List It.
What they got: This former show home for a multiphase development is on a 9,124 square-foot lot in a quiet cul-de-sac in the Burke Mountain neighbourhood. The 3,387 square-foot house has three levels, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, private yard and security cameras. It was built in 2014. Unlike several other homes in the area, it was built without a basement suite.
The agent's take: The owners purchased the property new for less than $950,000 including GST, in September, 2014. That's a 39.24 per cent return in 16 months, says agent Rob Breckwoldt.
"Looking back to when we got our clients into this property, we assured [them] it would be a great opportunity for their lifestyle, but who would've guessed they would be grossing over $20,000 a month just to live here."
