The action: The one challenge to the house was the inclusion of an in-law suite on the main floor. However, the agents listed in January and sold a few days after the agents' open house. They had received two offers, and didn't have to hold an open house to the public. A Ladner family purchased the house, including the furniture. The seller, who'd purchased the house in 2001, had done a full renovation. "The seller is a decorator, and he had great taste. And now they are starting over in their new place."
What they got: This 4,000-square-foot house sits on a one-quarter acre lot. An architect-designed home, it has five bedrooms and a self-contained 1,000-square-foot nanny suite on main floor. The lot is park-like and private, and about one block from the ocean.
The agent's take: The Tsawwassen market has skyrocketed in the last year, with a lot of new construction going on. House prices have increased, on average, 34 per cent, according to Sotheby's. Part of the appeal is because lot sizes are big – about 8,000 square feet is the minimum. If traffic isn't bad, commuters can get downtown in a half hour. "It also gets a lot more sun than Vancouver," says listing agent Mackenzie Close. "Tsawwassen has been a sleeper [municipality] for a long time and now it's getting the attention it deserves."
