DAYS ON THE MARKET Six

LISTING AGENT Jonathan Ferrier, Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd.

The Action: Winter festivities keep many homeowners preoccupied in December, but it didn't stop 50 serious house hunters, including open-house attendees, from making a trip to this renovated house near Wychwood Barns. Before the end of the week, there were two solid offers.

What They Got: Four years ago, experienced renovators gutted and redesigned this 1920s residence to created a more contemporary three-bedroom and four-bathroom plan with open-concept entertaining areas, five skylights, maple hardwood floor, pot lights, a central vacuum system and Internet wiring throughout.

High traffic areas include a combined living and dining space with a gas fireplace and an eat-in kitchen with a concrete-topped island and French doors to a cedar deck, fenced yard with a waterfall feature and gate to two-car parking access via a laneway behind the 20-by-124-foot lot.

The largest bedroom is upstairs with a Juliet balcony, vaulted ceilings and a five-piece bathroom, while a fourth bedroom off the lower-level family room is the smallest.

The Agent's Take: "It's pretty unusual to list a property that close to the holidays because it slows down soon after. But the reason why we put it on the market was because there wasn't anything as nice as that on the market in Hillcrest," agent Jonathan Ferrier said.

"The owner had renovated many houses in the past and has a keen eye for design, so she went all out on the fixtures and finishes."

The buyer also fell in love with the home's location. "She loved the house so much, she considered an area that was a little further south than what she was looking for," Mr. Ferrier said. "People who live in Hillcrest love Hillcrest and don't want to leave Hillcrest."
