Dr. Edward Brown is one of the early founders of telemedicine in Canada. His pioneering research, conducted while telemedicine was, in most countries, still in its infancy, helped establish an integration strategy for telehealth services in Ontario.

Dr. Brown was integral to the establishment of a province-wide, technology-enabled clinical consultation, diagnostic and administrative service - he is now CEO of the Ontario Telemedicine Network, which brings clinical care to patients in remote regions.

The Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), established in 2006 with the merging of three telehealth regional organizations: NORTH Network, CareConnect and VideoCare, is now one of the largest telemedicine networks in the world, with 3,000 health care professionals in more than 1000 cities across the province.
